Things You'll Need:
  • 1gig or Larger SD Card (Micro w/ Adapter will work)
If you plan on installing any game backups in the future you'll need a large SD card to hold the games before installation, as well as a hardrive or flashdrive to install them to.

  • An Internet Connection Setup on your Wii U w/ Custom DNS Blocking* (Wifi or Wired)
*Setup Custom DNS Blocking to Prevent Firmware Updates, read the following guide & return here after.

Preparing the SD Card:

  • Insert your SD into a Computer or Mobile Device
  • Format the SD Card to Fat32 w/ 32000kb Allocation (you can use guiformat get it here)
  • Download these files here: Wii_U_Setup_Files_5.5.1.zip
  • Right Click the Wii_U_Setup_Files_5.5.1.zip & "Extract to Here" using 7zip
  • Drag the "wiiu" & "install" Folders to the root of your SD Card
  • Safely eject your SD card
  • Insert SD Card into your Wii U
Lets get Started:
  • Power on your Wii U & wait for the home screen to load
  • Tap on the Internet Browser to Open it
  • Tap on your Mii to Open your Bookmarks
  • Tap the Arrow beside any Bookmark to Edit it
  • We are going to Replace a Stock bookmark with the Homebrew Launcher
  • Edit the Name & Link to match the below image

  • Your Finished Bookmark should resemble this one



    • Tap on your new Homebrew Launcher bookmark to Open it
    • A video will attempt to play on your Gamepad then Crash, Opening the Homebrew Launcher
    • Tap the arrows to navigate to Mocha CFW & Tap on it
    • Tapping Load will Restart your Wii U, when it boots back up you will be in Mocha Custom Firmware
    • To Exit Mocha Custom Firmware - Simply Power Off your Wii U
    • Next time you power on your Console, it will be completely stock again.
    • To Enter Mocha CFW again, you'll have to repeat the process of: 

    Entering the Browser, Launching the Homebrew Bookmark, Loading Mocha CFW.


    And there you have it, it's that easy to get CFW on the Wii U!
